How I Built
Classroom Teacher Resources

One Step at a Time

As you can tell from looking around my site, I love children and I love teaching children. Ever since I started in this career, I've been bursting with ideas that I wanted to share...big ideas about important concepts in teaching and classroom management, as well as small ideas about great lesson plans and even classroom decorations.

I wanted to share with other teachers...but how?

Sharing things on the internet was the obvious approach. I mean, what isn't online? I didn't want my ideas locked away in a book and controlled by a publisher.

But again...how?

I wanted to reach other teachers, but the problem was I really didn't know where to start.

I knew that I wanted a real website and — just maybe — a chance to make a little bit of money to supplement my teacher salary.

"Make a little extra money..."

...does that sound familiar?!

I researched my options a lot. I knew whatever system I used had to be focused on beginners. Most importantly, it had to be absolutely headache-free because I knew I wouldn't have time to troubleshoot issues. The thing just had to work.

The perfect system...for me

That's when I found Site Build It. SBI took me by the hand and led me step-by-step through their "action guide" until you see the website that I have today.

I'm truly proud of the resources I've created and made available to other teachers. I get visitors from around the world commenting on my pages, asking questions and letting me know how much I've helped them.

Make no mistake: This is not a get-rich-quick plan and SBI is very, very clear on that point. Just like the new yogurt shop on the corner, it takes time to build a brand and a group of devoted customers.

Anyone can put up a beautiful website or blog in a few hours...but what's a website without visitors? A hobby, that's what...and I wanted more than a hobby.

There are no shortcuts in business, online or offline. And it is a business I'm building, not just a website. But once you get started, it's amazing where you can end up one little step at a time.

SBI can work for you, too

There are a lot of people using SBI to share their ideas online — not just teachers. So many different people have special knowledge or great skills for which other people are willing to pay. SBI is the perfect platform that gets the technical part out of the way so you can let your amazing ideas shine through.

And if you are already teacher blogging...don't stop! You've got a great head start on traffic! You can integrate your blog (and your followers) into an SBI website easily without losing your blogger identity.
